Kosovo is the ‘youngest’ region in Europe – with 53% of its estimated population under 25 years old – yet findings from a recent Youth Opinion Poll (UNICEF & IKS, 2010) reveal that the majority of young people perceive themselves as participating “little” or “not at all” in the key decision-making processes affecting their lives and communities.

Youth Advocacy Platform (YAP!) is designed to bridge the two existing pillars of the UNICEF Innovations Lab Kosovo by serving as a broader platform for youth-led advocacy and direct policy engagement.  Matching young social entrepreneurs and advocates with relevant experts, YAP will support Kosovo’s youth in developing sustainable, web-based applications to visualize and amplify their offline advocacy efforts and influence key decisionmakers.

YAP also aims to bring the core components of the Lab (process + capacity-building + advocacy) to marginalised youth in their own communities and link them to other youth networks currently interacting with the Lab through a variety
